Familiar and yet subtly irreverent the ‘Once upon our time’ wallpaper take classic “toile” patterns from the past, and gives them a new highly modern perspective.
Designed by Young & Battaglia. The colour scheme of this collection is a mixture of traditional and modern colour-ways and includes black, pink, blue, white and grey. The wallpaper is printed on a hardwearing smooth paper that is simple to install with no wallpapering table needed.

BRENDAN YOUNG AND VANESSA BATTAGLIA
Anglo-italian design duo brendan young and vanessa battaglia are the founding directors of mineheart, they also run their own renowned design consultancy, working on projects for many international clients including audi, John Lewis, next and aeon.
They began working together in 2003 under the name studiomold with their first collection of furniture using re-appropriated materials. This included the award winning 'recycled sound' system made from old vinyl records and 'love' furniture using reject tennis balls which became part of the permanent collection at the moma in Monaco.
Since then the couple have gone on to work for many UK and international clients designing furniture, lighting, sculptures and interiors, as well as art direction and packaging.
Their playful philosophy and innovative use of materials and imagery has LED them to work on an extremely wide variety of design projects and win several design awards.
They have attracted international recognition through many exhibitions worldwide including New York, Milan, Tokyo, Paris and London. Their work has also been published in books, most leading design magazines, and selected for prestigious shows and collections such as the v&a and the moma.

“…we based the pattern on traditional ‘toile’ but we used a scribble style of drawing combined with purposefully bad colouring in reminiscent of a very small child. From a distance it could be mistaken as normal, but up close you can see the design actually features modern scenes and elements of our current time. City scenes like teenagers eating pizza and drinking cola in the park, scooters, pugs, lolly-pop ladies, and someone on their mobile phone. You may even spot ourselves and other members of our family in there somewhere. It’s like a snapshot of now, like a souvenir!”
