APPLICATIONS
STEP 1 : SETUP
Make sure the walls are dirt- and dust-free, and that cracks, nail holes, and loose plaster have been fixed. Remove any electrical outlet plates and vent covers. Walls must be completely dry before install.
STEP 2 : WALL PREPARATION
Walls should be smooth and sanded. Surfaces receiving the wall covering should be primed with two coats of high-quality acrylic primer. Match primer color to paper to minimize visible seams on wall. Read the manufacturer’s label for suggested primer drying time.
STEP 3 : WALL MAPPING
This wall covering has the same width as the recommended usable width, so butt-seaming is required. If applicable, panels should be pattern matched. Pre-trimming top and bottom is not recommended as ceiling and baseboard may not be level. Use sharp single-edge razor blade. Change blade often. Draw a vertical line with a level to keep the paper straight. For a single wall, start in the center and work out. For whole rooms, map it out so that you end in a corner. Measure the entire job carefully before applying to avoid thin side panels.
STEP 4 : ADHESIVE APPLICATION
Apply adhesive to the back of your prepared piece using a paint roller. It is important that the application is even and adequate, particularly at the edges. To ensure proper adhesion, book or allow paper to relax for 30-90 seconds after applying adhesive. On heavily textured or porous surfaced papers, avoid getting adhesive on the face of the wall covering as it could stain the papers. It may be necessary on heavily textured wallpapers to put adhesive on both the wall and back of paper.
STEP 5 : PAPER APPLICATION
Some patterns will have indicators written on the back of each panel. If your panels have “T” written - this is the top of the wall covering. If your panels have numbers written, reference the numerical guide included in your package. When you are confident of your measurement, start by applying the panel to the wall along the vertical line and smoothing it to remove the wrinkles and air bubbles. A plastic scraper or brush will be required. Line up the edge of the next piece and apply. Match pattern panel to panel. A seam roller may be necessary to remove a raised seam. Trim the ceiling and floor edges of the wallpaper after application. Wipe down the paper with a clean, damp towel or sponge to remove any paste on the surface. Let cure for 24 hours before hanging anything on top of paper.
