4 Hour Epoxy Primer is a two-component solvent free epoxy primer especially designed to reduce penetration on porous, very absorbent surfaces.
It has significant benefits over traditional water-based primers in penetration, adhesion and curing.

DETAIL
The 4-Hour Epoxy Primer is used for interior concrete to bind weak surfaces and can be over coated with high build epoxy resin floor finishes such as: High Build Epoxy 100 and Epoxiocote High Build. Do not use on non-porous surfaces.

HOW TO APPLY
APPLICATION
Apply in a well ventilated area when the air and surface temperatures are between 50-60°F. Use a good quality lint free 3/8" nap roller with a phenolic core or our 18 Roller Frame and Handle. A brush may be used for cutting in along walls.
COVERAGE
Coverage will vary with the porosity and the degree of surface profile of the concrete. For the purpose of estimating coverage, assume approximately 150 sq. ft. on normal surfaces and 120 sq. ft. on more porous surfaces.
CURING TIME
The primer can be re-coated in 2-4 hours or when the coating is dry to the touch. If not top coated within 48 hours, the primer will need to be sanded with a fine grit sand paper before application of the finish.
MIXING
Combine the base and activator components. Use a paint paddle or spatula to scrape out and transfer as much of the material as possible. Mix the components thoroughly until an even, uniform color is achieved. If using a power mixer, use a paint paddle or spatula to blend in any unmixed material from the sides and bottom of the pail. Do not mix more than one unit at a time. Immediately pour the material into a roller pan and do not delay application. The pot life is 30 minutes, less at higher ambient temperatures, and unused material will get hot and may pose a hazard.
SURFACE PREPARATION
The concrete surface must be clean, dry and free of loose material. New concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to coating. Remove oil, dirt, grease and other chemical contaminants by cleaning with detergent or other suitable cleaner. Rinse thoroughly. Use Cemtetch® Self-Etching Cleaner to remove unsound laitance and create a proper surface profile to the concrete. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before application of the 4 Hour Epoxy Primer. NOTE: Concrete that has a sealer or curing agent on it may not respond to the Cemtetch treatment. It may be necessary to remove the sealer and create a surface profile by a mechanical method.
