SMOOTH COR™ PIPE
SMOOTH COR™ PIPE
Smooth Cor is a CMP pipe with a hydraulically smooth steel liner coated with polymer coating. This combination makes Smooth Cor Pipe the economical and performance alternative to reinforced concrete pipe in difficult situations such as weak soils, poor subsurface drainage conditions, steep slopes, and high fills.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN
Smooth Interior Liner Structural Design Smooth Cor is manufactured with a corrugated shell with an 18- gage polymer-coated steel liner. The exterior shell thickness can be 16-gage, 14-gage, and 12-gage and manufactured in a 2 ²/ 3 x ½ or 3 x 1 corrugation profile. Per AASHTO design, the combination of the corrugated shell and inner wall thickness allows for higher fillheights over the pipe.
MATERIAL
Smooth Cor is available in a variety of protective coatings. The corrugated shell of Smooth Cor can be made of galvanized steel, aluminized type 2 (ALT2) steel, or polymer-coated steel. The inner liner is manufactured from polymer-coated steel. Galvanized steel meets AASHTO M218 and ASTM A929 specifications. Aluminized steel meets AASHTO M274 and ASTM A929 specifications. Polymer-coated steel meeting AASHTO M246 and ASTM A 742.

TWO PIPE SHAPES
In addition to full-round pipe, Smooth Cor comes in a pipe-arch shape for limited headroom conditions. The low, wide pipe-arch design distributes the flow area horizontally, providing hydraulic capacity without lowering the grade
SMOOTH COR PIPE PROPERTIES
-Lined with either 18 or 20 gage steel -Standards lengths are 20’- 40’ -Diameters ranging from 48” to 126” in 3 x 1 corrugation -Diameters ranging from 18” to 66” in 2 2/3 x 1/2 corrugation
FITTINGS
Pre-fabricated fittings are more economical and have superior hydraulic characteristics when compared to concrete structures.
SMOOTH COR PIPE FEATURES AND BENEFITS
-Smooth steel liner : Manning’s “n” of 0.012, outperforms reinforced concrete pipe -Corrugated steel shell : Provides structural strength to outperform rigid pipe -Polymer coating : Protects against abrasion and corrosion to provide a service life of 100 + years -High beam strength : Superior to concrete pipe in many difficult situations such as weak soils, poor subsurface drainage conditions, steep slopes and high fills -Lightweight : Easier and less expensive to install than concrete pipe

SMOOTH COR PIPE FOR STORM SEWERS
The rugged, corrugated steel shell of Smooth Cor pipe supplies the structural strength to outperform rigid pipe, while a smooth interior steel liner provides a Manning’s “n” of 0.012.
SMOOTH COR PIPE SHAPES
-Full Round – recommended for most applications. -Pipe-Arch – used in limited headroom conditions. The low, wide pipe-arch design distributes the flow area horizontally, providing hydraulic capacity without lowering the grade.
DIAMETERS
Smooth Cor is available in diameters ranging from 18 inches to 84 inches in 2 ²/3 x ½ corrugation. The 3 x 1 corrugation is available in diameters of 48 inches to 144 inches Pipe-arch sizes range from 21” x 15” through 83” x 57” for 2 ²/ 3 x ½ corrugations, and 53” x 41” through 142” x 91” for 3 x 1 corrugations.
APPLICATIONS
Smooth Cor is used in a variety of applications, including :
- Reline
- Storm Sewer
- Outlet Controlled Culverts
- Irrigation & Canal Enclosures
STEEL-LINED, POLYMER-COATED CMP PIPE FOR DIFFICULT SITUATIONS
Smooth Cor™ consists of a standard corrugated steel pipe as its structural exterior shell and includes a hydraulically smooth steel liner. Both the interior liner and exterior shell are coated on both sides with a polymer coating. This combination makes Smooth Cor Pipe the economical and performance alternative to concrete in difficult situations such as weak soils, poor subsurface drainage conditions, steep slopes, and high fills.
Smooth Cor can be fabricated into any type of structure including tees, elbows, laterals, catch basins, manifolds and reducers. Pre-fabricated fittings are more economical and have superior hydraulic characteristics when compared to concrete structures. Smooth Cor should be specified as an alternative under normal site conditions and specified exclusively under very difficult situations that demand the strength of CMP with positive joints and a hydraulically efficient smooth liner.
