RONAFIX PRE-PACKED RENDER / SCREED

Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed is a two component pre-packed mortar supplied as a sack of powder and a bottle of polymer gauging liquid. Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed will produce a weatherproof render; it is bonded to the substrate with Ronacrete Standard Primer.

Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed has very good resistance to water and water vapour, providing excellent resistance to frost, rain and entry of floodwater; resistance to water vapour of a 12mm layer is 60 MN·s·g–1 50 times greater than the same thickness of sand/ cement.

Flexural, tensile and compressive strengths are considerably better than unmodified render. Typical shrinkage of Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed is 0.01%, similar to that of epoxy resins.

Durability of Ronafix Pre-packed Render/ Screed is considerably greater than sand/ cement render, heat ageing tests showed only a minor reduction in tensile strength after simulated life of 40 years, while flexural strength was increased.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

PRIMING

Mix Ronacrete Standard Primer with a slow speed drill and spiral paddle attachment and apply evenly to the damp surface, ensuring full coverage, immediately before applying the mixed Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed. Only prime an area which can be covered by the render or screed within the open time of the primer.

PREPARATION

The substrate on which the Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed is being placed must be structurally sound, stable and suitable to receive and support a strong render / screed. Surfaces should ideally be prepared by water/grit blasting or similar means to expose aggregate and provide a mechanical key. All grease, oil, dirt and deleterious material must be removed.

DAMPING

The prepared surface must be thoroughly dampened with clean water. All surplus and standing water must be removed before the primer is applied.

PLACING

As soon as the material is mixed it must be applied to the wet/tacky primer, using conventional plastering techniques, ensuring total contact with the substrate and ensuring the render does not slump or slide away from the surface. If applying two or more coats of Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed, each intermediate layer must be combed to provide a key for the next layer. The following layer should be applied, having first applied Ronacrete Standard Primer, after the previous layer has firmed up sufficiently to support its weight without slumping or pulling away. Keying and priming between layers is necessary to ensure total adhesion through the render.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed should be stored unopened between 5°C and 25°C in dry warehouse conditions and out of direct sunlight. In these conditions shelf life is approximately 6 months.

WORKING TEMPERATURES

Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed may be used in most weather conditions and in a wide temperature range, typically from +3°C to 25°C and above. Note that at high ambient temperatures the working time of the mix will be reduced; it will be increased at lower temperatures. Ideally materials should be between 10oC and 20oC before use.

MIXING

Ronafix Pre-packed Render / Screed provides optimum performance when machine mixed in a forced action mixer (eg. paddle or Creteangle pan mixer). Mix the dry components and when evenly dispersed add the required amount of the supplied gauging liquid, to provide sufficient workability for compaction and surface finish.

CURING

As soon as possible after finishing the surface cure the surface with Ronacrete Curing Membrane. Alternatively use tight fitting polythene to prevent rapid moisture loss and surface cracking and crazing.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Contains cement. The use of protective clothing, goggles, face mask, overalls, barrier cream and gloves is recommended to prevent any effect from prolonged skin contact, inhalation or ingestion. In the event of skin contact, wash with soap and water. Seek medical advice if irritation or pain occurs. In the event of eye contact, irrigate with plenty of clean water and seek immediate medical advice. In the event of ingestion, do not induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical advice.
