SCREED REPLACEMENT TILE

SCREED REPLACEMENT TILE

The Screed Replacement Tile (SRT) system is our market leading, low profile alternative to a traditional screed.

Jupiter Screed Replacement Tile

Through removing moisture from the build process, and removing thermal mass from the floor, we are able to offer an underfloor heating system that is unparalleled in its speed of response.

Over the last 20 years the SRT system has established itself as the most durable, dry installed alternative to screed. It is incredibly robust and has been used in thousands of projects without a single failure. From small residential projects to large scale commercial sites, the SRT system affords architectural specifiers and end-users alike the confidence that their floor will not fail.

FEATURE

SUPERIOR HEAT OUTPUT

Due to its minimal thermal resistance and thin form factor, the Screed Replacement Tile’s heat output surpasses many other systems. According to BS EN 1264 the combined thermal resistance of a floor finish and screed should not exceed R = 0.15 m² K / W (1.5 Tog).

NO EXPANSION JOINTS OR DECOUPLING MEMBRANE REQUIRED

As the SRT expands so little (approximately 0.1 mm / 10 m) it does not require expansion joints in areas up to 450 m². As most stone and tile floor finishes have a similar coefficient of expansion as the SRT they move together as one. As the Screed Replacement Tile system forms a new, entirely decoupled layer over the existing substrate, there is no requirement for a decoupling membrane when installing a stone or tiled finish. We are so confident of this that we will guarantee your finish will not fail.

FULL-SCALE DEFLECTION TESTED

In 2011 the Building Research Establishment (BRE) conducted a full-scale test to establish the exact deflection capability of the SRT system. The test was undertaken to dispel any concerns the design team behind the New Weston Library project in Oxford had. The results were conclusive and demonstrated once and for all what remarkable deflection properties the system has. The full test report is available upon request.

SUITABLE FOR ALL FLOOR FINISHES

At first glance the SRT seems unremarkable, and its immense benefits are not obvious. The simple fact that hundreds of architects now specify the SRT system is a testament to the product’s outstanding capabilities.

Jupiter Screed Replacement Tile

It is difficult to imagine that an 18 mm thick ceramic tile can accept a point load of 5 kN (500 kg) and can absorb huge amounts of deflection making it suitable for installation over both solid and suspended floors. The SRT system is used mostly in conjunction with stone and tile floor finishes and prevents them cracking; but any floor finish can be installed on top.

BENEFITS

-Simple to install; no specialist knowledge or training is required. -No decoupling membrane required. -Accepts any format tile, porcelain or stone; no maximum size. -Suitable for all floor finish choices, however some floor finishes such as vinyl and carpet may require the application of a levelling compound first. -Tested deflection capability with stone floor of ℓ/240 (i.e. SRT can tolerate 20 mm deflection over 5 m) is three times better than standard ℓ/720 requirement for stone or tile installation. -As the SRT system expands and contracts minimally across the range of temperatures it will experience in service, there is no requirement for movement or expansion joints up to 450 m².
