CAROLE BAIJINGS
Infinitely more sophisticated than a two-color graphic design, Carole Baijings completely reinvents the French stripe thanks to a metamorphosing chromatic palette. In its range of wallpaper and panoramic, each vertical stripe is a color that transforms while observed as a whole the stripes reveal a landscape in movement.
As in nature, the palette of colors is lively & incandescent offering the panoramic an unreal depth of field: "as with a painting, you don't see the same thing if you look up close or far away" A true signature of Carole Baijings, the fluorescent touches awaken, surprise, catch the eye like a flower in spring or a ray of light.
Co-founder of the Scholten & Baijings studio until 2019, Carole Baijings is considered one of the most exceptional, innovative and dynamic industrial designers in Europe. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, his work which includes ceramic objects, glass, textiles and furniture is distinguished by an extremely balanced use of colors, patterns and graphic elements.
Famous for her attention to detail, she has collaborated with many brands such as Samsung, IKEA, MINI, HAY, Herman Miller, Karimoku New Standard and Maharam. Always ready to disrupt and rethink the way we interact and live with design, Baijings' work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum (New York), the Art Institute of Chicago and the Rijksmuseum.
“My design philosophy has always been “the Atelier method”. I always mix my colors myself, create my own materials and shape my designs, which allows me to achieve this level of precision, whether it's finding the exact shade of neon pink or slightly adjusting the proportions of a seat for a more comfortable seat.
Color is my real passion. It is at the very heart of what I create and I play with it from the beginning to the end of a project. Color, and with it, the notions of transparency, layers and mesh can bring enormous dimensionality to an object; it's much more than just a cherry on the cake! I draw a lot of inspiration from nature in my work. I tend to say that a flower, even a very colorful one, can never be flashy.
It’s almost become a signature item for me. Previously, it was difficult to produce these neon colors in different materials, but with time and thanks to color-fast inks, it is increasingly possible.
It's something I'm always looking to explore: how to incorporate these bright colors while still maintaining a refined aesthetic. I clearly have nothing against a little touch of neon.
I always start by studying the DNA and values of each brand. It's a great source of inspiration. For a collaboration, I seek to create a product that visibly reflects both of our identities. »
It goes without saying that I am delighted with it! I have been fortunate to work with prestigious brands and museums, each with their own distinctive ethos and history.

The vivid colors of the panoramic evoke nature, offering striking depth.
