When it comes to decking, it is very important how you feel when you walk barefoot. The key factors for this are heat generation and a pleasant surface.
SOFT SURFACE WITHOUT SPLINTERS
Accoya is very dimensionally stable. This means that the decking has a more even surface, will resist warping and stay smoother for longer. Accoya decking will stay smooth for years and feel very comfortable barefoot.
STAY COOL IN THE SUN
Heat build-up can be a significant problem on patios and decks. In summer, decking boards warm up in the sun. Some materials heat up so much that they become too hot to walk on barefoot. Not Accoya. Tests with thermogram images showed that Accoya wooden decks stay pleasantly cool, even on the hottest days. Accoya performed significantly better than comparable decking materials.

ACCOYA DECKING FOR THE SUNSET HOUSE
Situated on a steep and technically challenging site, this home was designed to capture views of the outer harbor and marine traffic along the jagged West Vancouver coast line. A natural, minimalist palate of raw concrete, steel, leather and Accoya wood creates a calm space that doesn’t distract from the framed ocean view beyond.
Its outstanding performance and sustainability credentials, accoya was the natural choice. Accoya wood was used for decking, as well as siding, fencing and railings throughout the property.
INSPIRED BY CRADLE TO CRADLE PRINCIPLES
The new city hall in Venlo the Netherlands is a paramount example of applying the Cradle to Cradle design principles on a building scale. This project also boasts the highest possible application level of Cradle to Cradle within the fixed budget.
The most important element the design team had to consider was the use of appropriate materials which have green credentials and can be recycled. This is why Accoya was selected as the ideal timber for decking, windows and exterior facade as well as the doors and ceilings.
