MATERIAL

The best heat protection in summer material-wise, as wood has the highest heat capacity of all conventional construction materials. This ensures that the heat created by sun energy is absorbed and stored for a long time, and so only a little heat is transferred inside of the building. At night the collected heat energy flows out into the air.

BENEFITS

- Another benefit are the inside surfaces that can be extremely simply machined. Slots for electric cables, installation of hanging cabinets or mounting parts can be made directly into the wood. The wooden surfaces can be left visible or covered with plasterboards. Even later alterations and reconstruction works are possible. - Meanwhile in Germany buildings are made of solid wood components with up to 6 full floors according to the respective national building code. In 2008 in Berlin even a seven- storey tower block in massive timber construction was built.

- A free choice of facades (plaster, brick or formwork) offers a variety of design options, in classical as well as modern architecture. - The sustainability of wood and its ability of permanent storage of CO2 result in a positive environmental impact. No competing building material can be produced, processed and used with as little energy consumption and such low environmental impact as wood.

- This distinguishes wood in comparison to competing solid construction materials. Individual wall components can be cut using CNC controlled machines without error, so that the best fit is obtained. Walls, ceilings and the roof are then assembled on site with appropriate, structural calculated fasteners in no time. - The resulting shell construction is then available for further development. Since the components themselves create a vapor barrier, only the connecting joints must be airtight. With a differential pressure method (the Blower-Door Test), air change rates well below 1 h can be achieved.
