SHEERFILL® SGM SHADE MESH
SGM Shade Mesh materials are used in façades and shading applications for SHEERFILL Architectural Membranes including custom façades, modular façades, architectural umbrellas and more.
The mesh construction of the material allows for more lighting to enter the space and allows for air to circulate through the fabric. SGM Shade Mesh is a composite material made of fiberglass and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
INFORMATION
SUBTLE LIGHTING & SHADING
SGM Shade Mesh Products enable the construction of outdoor shade structures or facades that provide high light transmission and the circulation of air through the membrane to minimize heat buildup. SGM Mesh provides shade in the small structures and can be used in large stadium structures to provide light and the added benefit of circulating air. SGM Mesh can be colored to provide a unique look to any structure.
PROVEN LONG-TERM DURABILITY
SGM Shade Mesh is manufactured with two long lasting materials – fiberglass and Teflon (PTFE). Both have been shown to be unaffected by UV and will provide long term durability against weather. Because the product is porous, it is not subjected to the high stresses associated with fully coated PTFE membrane products such as SHEERFILL.
SAFETY
SGM Shade Mesh is a translucent, noncombustible material made with fiberglass and Teflon®. It has a Class A rating, and its overall performance in regard to permanent building codes, including fire codes, is consistent with that of SHEERFILL membrane. Non-combustible properties are inherent in these materials that do not degrade over time.
STAIN RESISTANT FOR ENDURING BEAUTY
The visual appeal of SGM Shade Mesh is unaffected by age, climate, pollutants or discoloration. Its impervious Teflon coating makes SGM Mesh highly resistant to staining. SGM Shade Mesh repels airborne particulates and chemicals that adhere to other materials. The natural action of rain keeps the surface clean and white.
COMFORT
The use of SGM Shade Mesh enables the design of structures that allow for airflow throughout the facade, creating a more comfortable space for the occupants of the structure. When used on stadiums, it not only creates a more comfortable environment for the many fans within, it helps enable the growth of natural grass with the supply of fresh air.

SGM-30 PB
Not all shading needs to be done from the outside of the building, so in applications where the shading is from within, SGM-30 PB (pre-bleached) is an ideal solution. By pre-bleaching the material before coating, there is no concern with a delay in the natural UV bleaching that turns SHEERFILL roof membranes from a light beige from the factory into a briliant white after brief exposure to the sun.
